We’ve launched! You may have read the Call For Artists that went out, heck you might even have volunteered already, so here I’ll talk a bit about the project goals and how you can help.

HeartCharged has a vision for the impact of Sudden Cardiac Art. While it shows the world the beauty of the female physique, its main intention is to show the beauty of the act of honouring a woman and reverencing her worth by taking simple actions which could save her life.

This is who HeartCharged is and their journey has brought them to know the importance and potential impact of this work. HeartCharged was co-founded by Bethany and Hannah Keime, sisters and heart patients. In high school, they were both diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This killer condition causes sudden cardiac arrest yet often goes undetected until death.

For Bethany and Hannah, the condition was so severe that they received implanted defibrillators. Hannah has survived sudden cardiac arrest thanks to hers. In short, they personally understand the need for defibrillation to save lives.

Bethany and Hannah created HeartCharged to end preventable deaths and support other heart patients. Part of their work is donating AEDs (automated external defibrillators) and teaching people how to use them. They do this through personally training thousands and reaching tens of thousands through social media, employing music videos to help educate.

Imagine their horror when they found out that multiple international studies showed that women were much less likely to survive sudden cardiac arrest, not because no one was there, not because an AED wasn’t available, but because people refused to perform CPR or use an AED on them, simply because they have boobs.

Bethany & Hannah flipped their stomach-turning disbelief into the awareness movement, Flash The Boobs to Save A Life. They’ve marched in Washington, DC, spoken to thousands in assemblies, and created numerous posts including clever video parodies to shed light on this sad and unacceptable fact.

Next up, Sudden Cardiac Art.
