Sharing my process: The Fire Dancers, ink on paper

Starting a drawing is always exciting. Here I really let me imagination run riot as I created a sketch focused on the relationship between the dragon’s flames and the princesses.

Dancing has always fascinated me so I wanted to bring that movement of dancers into the movement of the flames. The dragon here is laden with jewellery, surrounded by bones. In the distance the figure of Saint George is ready to rescue holding onto a loop from one of the hoard’s chains.

The drawing is 30x27cm. This allowed me to use both a 0.1 mm and a 0.05 mm nib. Below is a reel showing the steps in creating the drawing. Enjoy!
